DE LA ZURDA
Dijous 23 de juliol · 19:00 h
Plaça de l’Absis de la Catedral de Tortosa
Synopsis
Moviola: Life has no moviola, which is why the past can never be restarted or remade. One cannot go back with the utmost precision as many times as needed or desired, except through pure and helpless memory. (Text inspired by the book “Abusos del ritual” by Manolo Pérez Bonfill).
Solo: The dancer and instructor of the festival’s professional workshops, Marie-Louise Hertog, presents a new solo performance.
El Baile de la Zurda: In this creation, LaCerda sets out to explore the vital impulse that moves every body dancing to the rhythm of music, investigating the nature of dance as movement, but also as a space for festive gathering and a paradigm of collectivity. Drawing inspiration from dance marathons and Latin American rhythms, Edward Tamayo (the choreographer of the piece) developed a loop-based choreographic composition system from which the piece was created: the “mantras,” focused on the relationship between the feet and the pelvis, space, rhythm, and the group.

LaCerda is a contemporary dance company founded with the intention of exploring the concept of ritual and its mysteries through performance. It works through experience, sensation, and visceral expression with the aim of reaching the primal nature of Dance, which predates Language and Concept. The company is characterized by a strong aesthetic imprint linked to the nature of ritual dances and the poetic dimension of movement. Founded in 2013 in Barcelona by María Carbonell and Edward Tamayo Ruiz, the company’s artistic direction has been led since 2019 by three Latin American artists: Edward Tamayo (Colombia), Johann Pérez (Venezuela), and Valentina Azzati (Argentina). In 2021, dancer and choreographer Aina Lanas joined the team as a performer, alongside Júlia Vernet, responsible for production and conceptual development.
